Whilst COVID guidance has been significantly relaxed in the general community, Scottish Government has confirmed that specific guidance for primary care settings, including optical practices, needs to remain in place. You may be offered one or more of the following appointment types, depending on your needs and symptoms:
All routine appointments can be booked online or by telephone. We operate a telephone triage service during our normal hours of business for emergency appointments. If you have an emergency concern, please DO NOT book this online.
It is possible that your enquiry or symptoms can be dealt with over the telephone. We are always happy to give advice, information and take orders during our normal business hours.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns about your eye health or your vision. If necessary, the Optometrist will invite you to have a video consultation or a face-to-face appointment as appropriate.
Out of hours, please contact NHS 24 for advice.
Where it is appropriate to do so, we offer online video consultations, using NHS Near Me (Attend Anywhere). This is a private and secure video call service for patients with pre-arranged appointment times, where you will be invited to enter a ‘virtual waiting room’. If you do not have an appointment scheduled, your call will not be answered.
Enter the waiting room about five minutes before your appointment. You will need to use either Google Chrome or Safari browser and will be given the opportunity to test your connection speed.
If you have an appointment and are ready to start your video consultation, click below to begin:
On the day of your appointment you will be contacted before you attend the practice to be screened for COVID-19 or other respiratory symptoms.
Social distancing in the practice is no longer required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be in use by all staff. Protective screens have also been installed around the reception and dispensing areas.
Hand sanitiser will be readily available and you will be asked to wear a face covering during your time in the examination rooms, as this is still strongly recommended within healthcare environments. Appointment times have been spaced out to allow for disinfection of the practice between patients.
For full details on what we are doing to keep you safe during your visit, please read the COVID-19 GUIDANCE page.
Our online booking system is available for all routine appointments. If you have an emergency concern regarding your eye health or vision, please DO NOT book this online. For emergencies, telephone the practice to be triaged during our normal hours of business, or call NHS 24 for advice outside of normal business hours by dialling 111.
Patients wishing to try contact lenses for the first time will need to telephone the practice to book a trial appointment, so that we can discuss your requirements and arrange to have trial lenses available for your visit.
